We love them.“Being part of a start-up is not easy, though. It means a rollercoaster ride with low chances of success, but high returns when succeeding.”In only three years Get in the Ring has grown from a local event in the Netherlands to a global competition in 64 countries, connecting more than 3 000 start-ups to thousands of funders, and millions of fans.“Start-ups need resources such as capital, talent and expertise to survive in today’s turbulent environment,” says Cuppen.“Globally, these resources are available in abundance, but often don’t connect. Sometimes because of timing, or because they are not offered in the right place. Sometimes because they are not well presented, or already taken by others.“However, they are there, and it is exactly this missing link between talented entrepreneurs and opportunities that drives what we do. Apple Music Reportedly Launching New Music Publishing Division

first_img Email Facebook Apple Launching New Music Publishing Division apple-music-reportedly-launching-new-music-publishing-division Apple Music Reportedly Launching New Music Publishing Division Elena Segal has been reportedly promoted to her new role as Global Director of Music Publishing at Apple Music, having previously worked as the legal director for iTunes International. When Apple Music launched globally in 2015, Segal was head of licensing, proving she could navigate and negotiate legal requirements that, unlike Apple’s tech products, are not meant to be intuitive.David Israelite, president/CEO of the National Music Publishers Association, praised Apple’s new division as “wonderful,” saying it “shows their respect and admiration for the publishing industry.”Catching Up On Music News Powered By The Recording Academy Just Got Easier. For example, when Sony announced on May 22 that it would spend $2.3 billion to acquire a greater stake in EMI Music Publishing, Sony President/CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said, “In the entertainment space, we are focusing on building a strong IP portfolio.” That was certainly a vote of confidence in the value of copyrights.Apple and its tech competitors cultivate and protect patent IP portfolios, underlying the innovations built into their products. The journey into artistic IP by Apple, at a minimum, will give it a vantage point and valuable experience on the copyright side. For example, it could help bolster the consummation of licensing deals more swiftly as well as lead to the direct signing and development of songwriting talent. News last_img read more

And Jennifer Owens, president and CEO of the Arlington Community Foundation, said, “Our veterans and working families deserve an appropriate standard of living that is healthy, safe and makes for a vibrant community. This gift is a great contribution toward that cause.”Jay Carney, senior vice president of Global Corporate Affairs at Amazon, said homelessness and affordable housing are real concerns in headquarter cities.”We believe this gift can help offer additional housing and support services for our neighbors in need. In addition, together with our employees, we will donate to nonprofits located in Washington state; Washington, DC; Maryland and Virginia, whose missions support affordable housing and people experiencing homelessness,” Carney said.Last month, MacKenzie Bezos signed the Giving Pledge, following her divorce from the Amazon CEO. The split would make MacKenzie Bezos one of the richest people in the world, worth about $37 billion. She plans to give away at least half of her fortune. To date, her soon-to-be-ex husband hasn’t signed the pledge. Last September, Jeff Bezos announced the charitable Bezos Day One Fund. The fund will initially focus on giving money to existing nonprofits that help homeless communities. Later, it’ll be geared toward creating a new network of top-tier preschools in low-income communities. In January, Microsoft also took strides to address homelessness. The company pledged $500 million to build low-cost homes in Seattle. The same month, Airbnb gave $2 million to aid homeless youth in San Francisco. Originally published June 11, 9:55 a.m. PT.Update, 11:21 a.m.: Adds more details.  Amazon 1:32 Amazon’s drones and robots want to take over your deliveries Share your voice 0center_img Post a comment Tags Tech Industry Now playing: Watch this:last_img read more
