He played in four ICC Cricket World Cups and was a Member of the Sri Lanka side that triumphed over Australia in the 1996 final in Lahore. He also captained Sri Lanka in two One-Day Internationals. Cricket, Geoff Allardice, thanked Mahanama for his contributions as a match referee: ?Roshan has been one of the pioneers of the elite panel and has been an integral component during the phase when the Referee?s role was evolving. “Roshan, very efficiently and intelligently, integrated his cricketing knowledge into match management skills to earn huge respect and appreciation from the entire cricketing fraternity. On behalf of the ICC, I congratulate him on a successful career as a match referee and wish him well in his future endeavours.” Vince Van Der Bijl, ICCs Senior Umpires & Referees Manager, paid tribute to Roshan, saying:”Roshans hallmark as a Match Referee has been his meticulous preparation and methodical approach.
